Beagh Cottage is a wonderful, old traditional thatched authentic cottage, located on it’s own grounds on a small working farm on the beautiful scenic west coast of Donegal.
This cottage has one spacious bedroom, bathroom with electric shower, kitchen cum dining-room, sitting-room and small entrance hall. The house is suitably equipped for a very comfortable and relaxing self-catering break and is ideally located for those wishing to go walking, cycling, angling, mountain climbing, bird watching golfing or just lazing around the open fire.
This cosy, romantic setting and atmosphere is ideal for a summer or winter break. Rooms 1 bedroom – spacious, carpeted and well presented with 1 double and 1 single bed. Cot available on request. Kitchen cum dining-room contains fully equipped kitchen with modern conveniences and adequate supply of crockery and cooking utensils for 5 people. This room boasts a wonderful open fire for the burning of turf, wood or coal.
Sitting-room has a nice comfortable suite of furniture, carpeted floor, colour TV, DVD, Radio and CD player and several occasional tables.
Bathroom consists of electric shower, toilet and washbasin with electric wall heater. All rooms are on ground floor. The entire cottage is well kept, tastefully decorated and all rooms have electric storage heating.
The cottage has it’s own private parking area. There is a spacious well maintained garden with garden furniture. Storage space is available for the safe-keeping of bikes, barbeques etc.

Beagh Cottage is the ideal destination for escape and exploration of the magic and beauty of the Highlands of Donegal. This 300 year old cottage has been tastefully restored to retain its original characteristics including thatched roof, fireplace and original bog oak beams. The cottage is ideally based for touring and enjoying local activities, of which there are many. Ardara heritage town is within 5km and there are many beautiful beaches - Narin blue flag beach is an easy drive. For golfers, Narin/Portnoo 18 hole golf course is in the vicinity or there is Pitch & Putt at Sandfield for the less serious. Anglers will be spolt for choice by the local lakes and rivers on offer or you can give horseriding a go at Loughros Point. The area is renowned for its megalthic standing stones including the large and impressive Kilclooney Dolmen and the Dolmen Eco Tourism centre, the first of its kind in the Republic of Ireland using renewable energy sources. For children, Dolmen Children's Playground provides fun and adventure while for nature lovers, the area has some spectacular beauty: Seskinmore nature reserve is interesting for its wild flora and fauna, and the untamed Glengesh pass makes for a stunning scenic drive. At Maghera, 13 caves fringe a lovely sandy beach providing a sheltered backdrop for bathers of the Atlantic. The region is renowned for some beautiful cliff walks and the Bluestack Way. In Adara, visitors can witness interesting local crafts being produced at Triona Design, makers of Donegal Tweed. You can read about the cloth process at the refurbished visitors' centre. Also in the town, the gallery of talented local fine artist Stephen Bennett is a big attraction. While music lovers have a choice of many local pubs serving up a traditional session.
Beagh Cottage has many varied attractions to suit all tastes all within 1 hour's drive: children large and small will love Waterworld at Bundoran. The historic Donegal town with its Castle & Abbey ruins is a lovely day out and now includes the added attraction of the Donegal Water Bus which will sail you around Donegal Bay. It gives unique insight into the history and environment of the estuary and passes the local seal colony at the mouth of river. Back on land, the Donegal Heritage Railway transports you to the age of steam.
Outside of the county capital, visit Killybegs, one of the largest fishing ports in Ireland from where you can arrange a sea fishing trip. Also within an hour's drive is the stunning Slieve League, the highest sea-cliffs in Europe. Lots of fascinating history is on offer at Glencolmcille Folk Village, the Ulster American Folk Park or the Workhouse at Dunfanaghy which provides an insight into the the famine. There is also the Glebe Gallery, the one-time home of the late artist Derek Hill, beautifully decorated with William Morris wallpaper.
The stunning Marble Arch Caves with underground boats transporting you round are an experience not to be missed; and the glorious Glenveagh National Park should be top of your itinerary. A visit to Dunlewey Lakeside Centre offers many activities, as well as a craft shop and boat cruise. There are also lovely boat trips out to Arranmore and Tory islands.
