Angling (Fanad Lakes)

An angling experience in the home of the wild browns Kinny - This lough has a fishable area of 51 HA and is best fished from a boat, although parts are easily acessible from the shore. It has an excellent stock of wild browns. The fish are not free rising and sinking lines are best for fly. Spinning is probably the most successful method. Sticklebacks and cased caddis, together with corixids and gragonfly nymphs form diet. Best Flies: Golden Olive; Iron Blue; Fiery Brown Kindrum - This lake has a surface area of 67 HA and is easily fished from the shore. There is an excellent stock of wild browns and a significant number of char. The principle diet is sticklebacks, cased caddis and snails but corixids, chronomids and dragonfly numphs also feature. Early in the season spinning is more successful but later fly angling is more likely to succeed and all patterns are useful.
