Description :

Ballyshannon was created a Borough by Royal Charter in 1613 and is one of the oldest towns in Ireland and is the birthplace of such diverse luminaries as Allingham the poet and Rory Gallagher the rock guitarist and even Tony Blair can trace his roots back to this charming town. From its idyllic setting the town looks out over the Erne Estuary and has panoramic views of mountains, lakes and forests. The historical status of the town is reflected in the local architecture with a number of buildings and sites of interes including Saint Annes Church, The Workhouse and the Mall Quay.
